BESPOKE GARAGES

Essential Storage, Beautifully Crafted

When you want somewhere special to keep your prized motor collection or other important belongings, a hand-made, oak-framed garage offers the security and protection you need in impressive, natural style. It can also provide extra space for a home office, workshop or utility room.

Working with our architectural designers, we have devised a number of outline garage layouts that can be customised to create a personalised garage unique to you, from a single bay to four bays or more!

We also design and build state-of-the-art oak framed outbuildings in a range of styles and sizes for private or commercial use, including stables, workshops, storage buildings, barns and bespoke business premises, all using tools and techniques passed down through the generations.

Practical, versatile, and truly elegant.

BESPOKE GARAGES

We create stunning oak framed garages tailored to your exact requirements, whether you need just one or six parking bays, or a combination of secure parking, general storage and a workshop. You can add first floor living by utilising the roof space to create stunning accommodation for guests, a granny annexe, children’s play room or your own private studio or office away from the distractions of the house. Or how about a unique entertainment space to relax with music and drinks?

Your new oak garage can be positioned as a stand alone structure or as an extension to your house and can be designed with any roof configuration whether hipped, gabled or flat. A stunning addition to your home.

DESIGNING AND BUILDING YOUR GARAGE

As a long-established family firm, with years of experience building all kinds of oak-framed structures, we know how to ensure your garage project goes smoothly. In most cases, we work through the following stages:

1. SITE SURVEY

We visit you, with our architect, to assess where the garage will be built and discuss your precise requirements. We look at the location and the style of your existing property, and advise on the design and materials for the new structure.

2. PLANNING ENQUIRIES

Our architect determines whether you need planning permission for your garage. He handles all dealings with the local authority, including producing any drawings that may be required.

3. MAKING YOUR GARAGE COMPONENTS

When planning permission is confirmed, if needed, we make your garage to the exact specification agreed with you. We craft the individual components – all in solid oak – and test-assemble them in our workshop, making any adjustments necessary to ensure everything comes together properly on site.

4. BUILDING THE FOUNDATIONS

While we are making your garage in our workshop, we lay the foundations on site, using our excellent partner firm of builders, who we've worked with for over 20 years. (If you prefer to use your own builders, we can provide a drawing and specifications).

5. ASSEMBLING YOUR GARAGE

With the components finished and the foundations in place, we assemble your garage structure, complete with cladding, doors and windows. Because most of the work is done in our workshop, ready for assembling on site, the time we spend at your property is relatively short. For a two-bay garage, it takes around five days to lay the foundations and five more to erect the garage – much less than it takes to build a standard masonry garage, and therefore much more convenient for you.

6. ELECTRICS AND PLUMBING

Whatever lighting, heating and water supply you need in your garage, we can look after it, working with tradesmen we know well and who share our high standards. Or if you prefer to use your own trusted suppliers, we are very happy to work with them too.

7. OTHER TRADES AND FINISHING

If you choose a design that utilises the roof space for extra accommodation, you will need more input from electricians and plumbers at an early stage – and perhaps also from heating engineers, plasterers, joiners and decorators. Again, you can let us take care of all these trades for you, or choose your own suppliers.
